NBA's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander nods to late Louis Vuitton designer with pregame fit

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is known for being one of the most fashion-forward players in the NBA.

So, as the OKC Thunder guard prepared to start for the Western Conference in the NBA All-Star Game at 7 p.m. Sunday in Indianapolis, it was only right that he pulled out a special pregame fit.

Gilgeous-Alexander wore a custom white Gruppo Vava jacket featuring an all-over "V" design. It paid tribute to the late Virgil Abloh, who founded the Milan-based label Off-White and served as Louis Vuitton's artistic director from 2018-21.

Drake wore a similar jacket for '8am in Charlotte' music video

Gilgeous-Alexander's jacket is similar to the black one that fellow Canadian Drake wore during his "8am in Charlotte" music video, which released in October.

Gilgeous-Alexander had close ties to Abloh prior to the designer's passing in November 2021. When Louis Vuitton partnered with the NBA for a capsule collection in 2020, Gilgeous-Alexander served as the face of the campaign.

Gilgeous-Alexander also owns a limited-edition Maybach S680 that was designed by Abloh. There are only 150 models in existence, and it's valued at approximately $500,000.

Gilgeous-Alexander is the driving force for an OKC team (37-17) that's second in the Western Conference standings. The 25-year-old guard is averaging 31.1 points, 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game this season.
