Ohio State signee Colin White has been named Ohio Mr. Basketball by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.

White, a senior at Ottawa-Glandorf, will be presented his trophy before Friday night’s Division III semifinal game against Harvest Prep. The Titans will then play in their fourth consecutive state semifinal game, and White has been a starter in each of them.

This season, he has averaged 24.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.6 steals a game while leading Ottawa-Glandorf to a 24-3 record. He will open Friday night’s game at University of Dayton Arena five points shy of 2,000 for his career and is already the most prolific scorer in both his school and his county’s history. The Titans are 95-14 during White’s four years with the program.

He is the first Mr. Basketball from northwest Ohio since Lima Senior’s Xavier Simpson in 2016, who signed with Michigan. White is the 12th player to win the honor who was also signed to play for Ohio State and the third in four years. Buckeyes freshman forward Devin Royal won the award at Pickerington Central last year and Malaki Branham from Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary won it in 2021.

White signed with the Buckeyes in November to play for Chris Holtmann after earning a scholarship offer during the summer. He was primarily recruited by Jake Diebler and has publicly announced his plans to remain with the program after Holtmann was fired and Diebler was elevated first to interim and then to full-time head coach.

White is also a two-time first-team all-state player who will receive his third such honor when the teams are announced next week.

A 6-6, 180-pound forward, White is listed as a three-star prospect and the No. 124 player in his class according to 247Sports.com.
