Ohio State signee Colin White sticking with commitment as Jake Diebler named coach
Colin White worked for much of his high school career to land a scholarship offer from Ohio State.
Now, after the associate coach who was his primary recruiter has been promoted from interim coach to head coach, the 2024 signee from Ottawa (Ohio) Ottawa-Glandorf is sticking with his commitment to the program. As he chases a state title in his senior season, White will suit up for the Buckeyes as a freshman for the 2024-25 season and play for Jake Diebler.
“Colin is committed to the Buckeyes and is extremely excited to play for coach Diebler,” his father, Terry, told The Dispatch. “We are extremely excited for coach Diebler and his family. The Ohio State University and Buckeye Nation will be proud of the men’s basketball program and we are extremely exited and blessed to be a part of it.”
The Titans will play Harvest Prep on Friday at 5:15 p.m. in a Division III state semifinal game at Dayton’s University of Dayton Arena. As a senior, White has averaged 24.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.1 steals while becoming his school and county’s all-time leading scorer. Ottawa-Glandorf is 90-15 during his four seasons and is already a two-time first-team All-Ohio honoree.

White has remained committed to the program since coach Chris Holtmann was fired Feb. 14. He attended Ohio State’s win against No. 2 Purdue on Feb. 18 to support Diebler and took part in the postgame court-storming celebration after the coach’s first game as interim coach.
“I said, ‘Coach, I’m going to be there for you,’ ” White said afterward. “I love coach Diebler. He’s a great dude, a great coach and he’s always there for me. I told him, ‘I’ll be down there on Sunday for you and I’m a Buckeye.’ ”
White is a three-star small forward prospect ranked No. 5 in Ohio and No. 124 nationally in his class according to 247Sports.com.
