DO NOT DRAFT: 11 NFL busts (Cooper Kupp) in 2024 you should avoid picking entirely in fantasy football

You know the drill.

Sure, in fantasy football drafts, the theory goes that you can take any player, no matter what, because even a guy you don’t want could be good taken at a lower value.

But I would say that’s not entirely true, because what if you draft a guy who's just OK but you can't drop him because what if he gets better? So every year, there are always a few players I highlight as DO NOT DRAFT on my cheat sheet, those I won’t take even if they drop to an extremely low price.

That’s what this list is for. In last year's DO NOT DRAFT, I told you to stay away from Diontae Johnson, Odell Beckham Jr. and Miles Sanders.

Here's this year's edition:

1. WR Stefon Diggs, Houston Texans

Nico Collins is ahead of him. I'd throw Tank Dell out there as ahead of him too. But because Stefon Diggs is Stefon Diggs, he's going to be taken at a higher position than you'd think. Even if he dropped, I wouldn't go there because he looked past his prime last year.

2. WR Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams

Puka Nacua is there. The health issues? Still maybe there. All in all, too much risk for me even at WR3 value.

3. QBs Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson or maybe even Anthony Richardson

I talk about this every year. Don't draft QBs that high in non-2QB leagues. It makes no sense when you can get Kyler Murray, Joe Burrow, Jordan Love or Tua Tagovailoa for discounts. I know we all love Anthony Richardson and rightfully so, but the market is a bit out of control. This group isn't going to drop much.

4. RB Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams

Yes, he's on my list of keepers for 2024. But that's as far as I'll go. Blake Corum looms and his history suggests he won't be as good as he was last year.

5. RB Derrick Henry, Baltimore Ravens

He seems not to age like other running backs, but I still worry about him at age 30 and that he's led the league in rushing attempts in four of the last five seasons. Plus, Lamar Jackson might steal a lot of work away from him. No thanks.

6. RB Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers

Yes, he's on our Boom or Bust players list, but I firmly say bust and don't touch in drafts. He was deceptively mid last year and Jaylen Warren is really good.

7. TE Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

I want to. I really do. But I need to see what happens in the Kirk Cousins Era first before I buy in. I'd rather draft above Pitts (Trey McBride, for one) or below (Jake Ferguson, for another).
