How much Tony Vitello's bonus is after Tennessee baseball College World Series championship
OMAHA, Neb. — Tony Vitello earned a $140,000 bonus for leading Tennessee baseball to the program's first national championship.
Vitello's contract stipulates that he receives 40% of his base pay as a bonus for winning the College World Series. The seventh-year coach has a base pay of $350,000, which makes up part of his $1.5 million annual salary.
He earned the bonus after the Vols clinched the program's first national title Monday with a 6-5 win against Texas A&M at Charles Schwab Field.
The contract affords Vitello one bonus per year based on the highest achievement of the team, which was winning the CWS. He did not receive a bonus for winning the SEC regular-season title or SEC tournament title.
UT has to pay Vitello the bonus within 60 days.
