Tennessee baseball transfer tracker: Vols working in transfer portal again
Tennessee baseball reached the College World Series for the second time in three seasons thanks to key contributions from transfers.
The Vols will be active in the transfer portal once again looking to bring in talent again after landing the likes of shortstop Maui Ahuna, third baseman Zane Denton, pitcher Andrew Lindsey, and designated hitter Griffin Merritt to bolster the 2023 roster.
Here is who is joining and leaving the Vols via the portal:
Who is joining Tennessee baseball?
Dalton Bargo — Catcher/Utility
Bargo hit .279 with five homers and 23 RBIs in 50 games at Missouri as a freshman. He started 45 games and can play corner outfield, corner infield and catcher.

Amick was a first-team All-ACC selection as a sophomore at Clemson. He hit a team-best .413 and slugged .772 in 46 games. He hit 13 homers and had 63 RBIs.
Ryan Galanie — Utility
Galanie signed with the Chicago White Sox after being picked in the 13th round of the MLB Draft. Galanie was the SoCon player of the year after hitting .383 with 17 homers and 66 RBIs at Wofford. He hit .339 in four seasons with the Terriers and was a two-time All-SoCon selection. Galanie started at first base last season after starting at third base in 2022.
Nate Snead — Pitcher
Snead has big-time velocity, touching 100 mph at Wichita State last season. He posted a 3.16 ERA in 24 appearances with 53 strikeouts in 42.2 innings as a freshman.
Cannon Peebles — Catcher
Peebles was an All-ACC freshman selection at North Carolina State in 2023. The switch-hitting catcher hit .352 with 12 homers and 50 RBIs in 39 games.

Causey was a reliever as a freshman and earned nine saves with a 2.61 ERA. He struck out 58 in 48⅓ innings.
Who is leaving Tennessee baseball?
Jake Kendro — Shortstop
Kendro hit .219 in 24 games with seven starts as a freshman in 2023. He had four doubles and a homer, playing in midweek games and sometimes filling in for Ahuna when the Vols shortstop was injured.
Kyle Booker — Outfielder
Booker started 10 of the first 12 games in the outfield in 2023, but was inconsistent and fell out of the lineup. He hit .259 in 84 games in three seasons at UT. He showed promise as a freshman, hitting .310 with six extra-base hits but never built on the season in 2022 or 2023.
Austen Jaslove — Shortstop
Jaslove was the starting shortstop for Tennessee while Maui Ahuna awaited eligibility in February. He had a minor role after, hitting .189 in 24 games with a pair of doubles and eight RBIs.
Ryan Miller — Catcher
Miller had 16 at-bats in 2023 as a reserve catcher. He hit .455 with three home runs and nine RBIs, but did not gain a consistent role behind Cal Stark and Charlie Taylor. Miller redshirted in 2021 and did not receive playing time in 2022.
Tanner Zellem — Infielder
Zellum was not on the active roster during the season for the Vols. He played mostly third base during fall baseball.
Peyton Ebbing — Catcher
Ebbing was not on the active roster for the Vols. He was a backup catcher in the fall but his preseason was cut short by an injury.
Logan Chambers — Utility
Chambers committed to Missouri State. He was a sparingly used reserve in his two seasons behind key cogs such as third baseman Trey Lipscomb. He hit .220 in 37 games with 19 starts. He hit one homer and had seven RBIs after transferring from junior college.
Chase Burns — Pitcher
Burns committed to Wake Forest as arguably the top player in the portal this offseason as a likely top-10 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. Burns went 13-5 with a 3.54 ERA at Tennessee. He struck out 217 in 152⅓ innings and made 22 starts among his 35 appearances.
Hollis Fanning — Pitcher
Fanning committed to North Carolina State after he gained a bullpen role as a junior at Tennessee. He struck out 24 in 14⅓ innings across 15 appearances, including a handful of SEC outings. The 6-foot-7 Fanning made 25 appearances in three seasons with one start. Fanning is an MLB Draft candidate.
Jake Fitzgibbons − Pitcher
Fitzbibbons was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 14th round and signed. He had his biggest role in his third season, but still was toward the back end of the UT bullpen. He posted a 3.75 ERA in 12 innings in 17 appearances. The Mount Juliet native pitched in 30 games in three years at Tennessee.
Alex Stanwich − Outfielder
Stanwich was one of the top incomers for the Vols in the 2022 recruiting class. He took the spring semester off "to get some things sorted out," Vitello said in February. UT expected then Stanwich would be back in the fall but he entered the portal. He has committed to Miami University in Ohio.

Turner Swistak − Pitcher
Swistak is transferring to Louisiana Tech after not playing in his lone season Tennessee. He redshirted this season after dealing with an early season injury. Swistak joined the Vols following two seasons at Pearl River Community College.
Shawn Scott − Pitcher/outfielder
Scott pitched in three games in 2021 before sitting out 2022 after having Tommy John surgery. He worked as a pitcher and an outfielder in the fall, but did not have a role in 2023. He transferred to Austin Peay.
