Missouri football learns kickoff window for SEC-opening Week 4 game vs. Vanderbilt

Welcome to the either/or era.

Missouri football will face Vanderbilt, its Week 4 opponent, at either 2:30 or 3:15 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Columbia, the SEC announced Monday. The game will air on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 or SEC Network, per a team news release.

Talk about narrowing it down.

Kickoff times for the 2024 season have changed slightly, with matchups slotting into a morning window, which can kickoff between 11 a.m.-noon; afternoon slots, which are between 2:30-3:30 p.m.; and night windows, which are between 5-7 p.m.

The exact time and television designation for the Tigers-Commodores matchup, which will mark the beginning of SEC play fo both teams, must be made at least six days prior to the game, meaning the specificities are likely to come after this coming Saturday’s slate of games.

The matchup was the penultimate game on the Tigers’ schedule that did not have a designated time window. Now, only Mizzou at UMass in October remains to be decided.

Vanderbilt, like Missouri, is off to a 2-0 start after defeating Virginia Tech in overtime in Week 1 and Alcorn State, quarterbacked in spells by former Missouri signal-caller Tyler Macon, this past Saturday.

The Commodores did not receive any votes in the latest coaches poll, but did get a little love from AP voters with 18 voting points, which would be good for No. 34 in the country, if the poll extended that far.

Diego Pavia is Vanderbilt’s quarterback after transferring in from New Mexico State. Clark Lea has been the Commodores’ head coach since the 2021 season.

Mizzou defeated Vandy 38-21 last season in Nashville, Tennessee.

Before then, Mizzou, which is ranked at 10-year high at No. 6 in the AP Top 25 and No. 8 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, will face No. 24/NR Boston College at 11:45 a.m.

The Eagles, now under head coach Bill O’Brien, are 2-0 with wins over Florida State and Duquesne.
