Missouri football climbs again in coaches poll. Here’s where the Tigers landed

Missouri football moved up two spots to No. 8 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, which was released Sunday afternoon. The Tigers entered Week 2 as the final team in the top 10, but has made a significant jump after Saturday's slate of games.

Mizzou defeated Buffalo 38-0 on Saturday in Columbia, which marked a second straight shutout for new defensive coordinator Corey Batoon’s unit and the first time the Tigers have held opponents scoreless in back-to-back games since 1935.

Michigan was the first team ahead of Eli Drinkwitz’s Missouri team, but the Wolverines lost 31-12 to No. 3 Texas in Week 2 and fell to the 16th spot in the poll.

Mizzou up to No. 6 in AP Top 25

The Tigers have climbed even higher in the AP Top 25 poll.

Mizzou came in ranked at No. 6 in Sunday's Week 2 poll release, up three spots from its previous ranking. The Tigers jumped above Notre Dame, Penn State and Oregon. It is Missouri's highest ranking in the AP Top 25 since the final poll of the 2013 season, when the Tigers lost to Aubrun in the SEC Championship game and beat Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl.

Six of the top seven teams in the AP poll are SEC schools. Georgia is No. 1, with Texas at No. 2, Alabama at No. 4, Ole Miss at No. 4 and Tennessee at No. 7.

Oklahoma and LSU were Nos. 15 and 16, respectively, this week, rounding out the conference's teams in the top 25. Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and South Carolina received votes but are unranked.

Boston College did make it into the top 25, per the media voters, taking the No. 24 spot and setting up a ranked matchup on Faurot Field on Saturday.
