Missouri football: Kickoff time, TV announced for Nov. 9 game against Oklahoma

The former Big 12 foes will reunite under the lights.

On Saturday night, the Southeastern Conference announced the kickoff time and TV designation for Missouri football’s game against Oklahoma this upcoming Saturday, Nov. 9 on Faurot Field. The Tigers and the Sooners will face off for the first time in 13 years at 6:45 p.m., with the game set to air on SEC Network.

The game was one of the marquee matchups on Missouri’s schedule when it was announced earlier this year, in part because of the renewed rivalry between the regional teams but also because of some recent recruiting battles that have pitted the two teams against one another.

Star Mizzou wide receiver Luther Burden III once was committed to Oklahoma before opting to commit to MU. More recently, five-star freshman Williams Nwaneri chose the Tigers over the Sooners in a seemingly closely contested recruiting battle. Then, to top it off, now-MU left guard Cayden Green drew the ire of some OU fans for entering the transfer portal after starting in his freshman year and opting to commit to Mizzou.

The shine of the matchup has taken a little hit because of the on-field performance of both teams in 2024.

Plagued with injuries at the skill positions, Oklahoma (5-4, 1-4 SEC) ranks as the No. 112-ranked offense in the FBS and recently fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell.

There is a major question mark over the availability of Missouri (6-2, 2-2) starting quarterback Brady Cook for the OU matchup, who left MU’s shutout loss to Alabama on Oct. 26 in Tuscaloosa during the second quarter to get X-rays on his hand/wrist area.

Missouri players and fans celebrate their win over Oklahoma on Oct. 23, 2010, at Faurot Field. The Tigers defeated the Sooners 36-27.

Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz has said he expects the QB to return this season, but there has been no confirmation if Cook will be ready to play by the time the Sooners come to Columbia.

Whatever product shows up on Faurot Field, it’ll come during the Tigers’ third night game of the season and their first since Week 2. Missouri athletics announced the game had sold out almost immediately after tickets went on sale in the preseason.

Oklahoma has dominated the series that dates back to 1902, holding a 67-24-5 overall record. Missouri’s most recent win was a famous one, as it knocked off No. 1 Oklahoma in 2010 on Faurot Field with College GameDay in town.
