Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill gets new contract, is ’here to stay'

MIAMI GARDENS -- Tyreek Hill has his new contract with the Miami Dolphins, a league source confirmed Saturday.

"I'm here to stay," Hill wrote on social media after sitting out Saturday's practice.

ESPN reported that the restructure is worth $90 million over three years and includes $65 million in guarantees.

The deal also assures that the focal point of Mike McDaniel's passing attack will remain intact at least three more years. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and receiver Jaylen Waddle are under contract through 2028 and Hill through 2026.

It also seems a virtual certainty that the club will now turn its attention to giving an extension to safety Jevon Holland, whose deal expires after this season.

It has been no secret that Hill, 30, was in the market for a new deal. He was hoping it would take him through the end of his NFL career while keeping him in Miami.

As a matter of fact, after Tua Tagovailoa's contract had been signed, Hill expressed hope his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, could get things settled with general manager Chris Grier. But Hill also joked that he told Rosenhaus to make sure contract talks did not result in getting him traded -- exactly what led to his trade from Kansas City to Miami.

The new contract comes immediately after Hill was voted the top player in the NFL by peers.
