Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill to agent Drew Rosenhaus: 'Do not get me traded, bro.'

MIAMI GARDENS - Tyreek Hill wants a new contract.

Tyreek Hill wants more guaranteed money and more years.

But Hill, the Miami Dolphins' star wide receiver, has given super agent Drew Rosenhaus explicit instructions.

"The only thing I told Drew was, 'Do not get me traded, bro,'" Hill said Tuesday. "Last time you did this, you got me traded."

Hill means that when he asked the Chiefs for more money, they traded him to Miami.

Hill was happy about that one. And now he doesn't want to go.

"So that's been my only thing to him," Hill said. "I want to stay here in Miami, man, because obviously, this is where family is now. Everybody loves it here. Family loves it. Wife loves it. Kids love it. So, obviously I love it. Love playing for coach. And my teammates are awesome. So, I wouldn't want to leave, man."

Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill: Don't trade me, bro

Hill realizes Miami needs to complete a contract with Tua Tagovailoa first.

Hill realizes that Miami might also be looking at extensions with Jevon Holland and/or Jaelan Phillips in the near future, too.

But his contract is a bit uneven.

Hill is in the second year of a four year deal worth $30 million a season.

But his cap hit for 2024 is $31.3 million.

His cap hit for 2025 is $34.2 million.

And his cap hit for 2026, which he will never see, is $56.3 million, with a potential Dolphins dead cap hit of only $11.3 million.

Tyreek Hill contract status could use Miami Dolphins clarity

Hill would probably like to see a new deal that extends him into 2027 or 2028, with the 2026 year being at a reasonable figure that could work for both sides.

"I don't know," Hill said, when asked if he expects an extended or reconfigured deal before this season. "To be honest, I have no idea. Obviously, I let Drew and the team handle that situation. And the only thing I told Drew was, do not get me traded, bro. Last time you did this, you got me traded."

Miami would seem unlikely to trade Hill as they are in a championship window.

It is theoretically possible they could try to trade him before the 2025 season. Or they could simply plan to move on after two more seasons.

Hill is 30. How many more years does he plan to play?

"I don't know," Hill said. "I feel like it's one of those things, man. My son is getting older, obviously. He's starting to play sports and he's like, 'Dad, I want you to come to more of my games.'

"And it's like the more I hear that, the more it's like, man, it's about time for me to like, I don't know. So I don't know, man, who knows about when or where I make my decision or when I want to stop playing. But I definitely know I want to be in my kids' life because every offseason I get all of my kids man and it's truly a blessing to have that moment with all of my boys and be able to help develop them into some great young men the same way that my dad developed me so, yeah, I don't know. I don't."

One thing Hill has done to maintain his conditioning is stem cell therapy in Antigua.

"It's been amazing," Hill said. "Just helping me regenerate, you know, some of the cells in my body, giving me the correct blood flow that I need. So that's been great. And as far as training, man, I feel like I'm going to be training my whole entire life because I feel like each and every year I've got to prove something, you know, to people because a lot of people feel like I'm not supposed to be doing what I'm supposed to be doing because of my size and my stature. But it's like Tom Brady said it the best, man, you don't got to be the best or you don't got to be the strongest or the tallest, but as long as you stay consistent in what you do each and every day, you'll be alright."

On Tuesday, Hill seemed very enthusiastic about 2024.

"I just love how the fans hold us accountable every day on Twitter," Hill said. "So, we're getting better. I promise you. We're not just sitting around, you know, drinking smoothies. We're getting better."
