MIAMI GARDENS - The Miami Dolphins had their fifth training camp practice of the summer at Baptist Health Training Complex on Monday.

Did cornerback Cam Smith practice?

Did wide receiver Tyreek Hill practice?

Smith left practice early on Sunday, with the assistance of a trainer.

Hill did not practice Sunday in a possible veterans' rest day.

But the Hill situation is worth watching because he would like a new contract.

Hill practices very hard despite his veteran status and so sometimes the Dolphins feel they need to hold him back to protect him from himself.

Dolphins cornerback Cam Smith was not seen at the start of Dolphins practice on Monday.

Coach Mike McDaniel does not speak with reporters Monday, so an update could come Tuesday.

Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill was not seen working at the start of Dolphins practice on Monday.

UPDATE: Tyreek Hill did practice, after all. He caught a pass early in practice and fans roared.

• Tua Tagovailoa hit River Cracraft across the middle.

• Ethan Bonner has a real shot to make this team as a corner/safety.

• Today is the first day players wore pads in practice.

• Skyler Thompson had an issue on a center exchange.

• Jody Fortson dropped a pass. He can't have those drops.

• Ethan Bonner had a chance to cover Tyreek Hill today.

• Terron Armstead continues to get a lot of veterans' rest.

• Tua rolled to his left and threw a strike to Tyreek. Tua looks nimble, folks.

• Tua with a strike to River Cracraft near the sideline.

• Jalen Ramsey intercepted Skylar Thompson.

• Miami's backup quarterbacks have not had a very strong start to camp. But Mike White did have a strong mid-depth reception to Braxton Berrios.

• Jaylen Wright dropped a short pass.

• Skylar Thompson and Tyreek Hill connected on a deep bomb.
