Miami Dolphins training camp practice report: How Jaelan Phillips looked in return

MIAMI GARDENS - The Miami Dolphins had a training camp practice on Monday at Baptist Health Training Complex on Monday, practice 13 of the summer.

Before practice, coach Mike McDaniel cautioned it might be a light day of work.

It was the first day back for Jaelan Phillips (Achilles), who has been cleared to practice.

Miami has practice on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, with the final practice a joint session with the visiting Washington Commanders.

Miami Dolphins training camp notes

  • Jaelan Phillips enthusiastically participated in loose ball drills, diving onto a mat at the start of practice.

  • Among the players who also appear to be returning to practice are edge rusher Chop Robinson, linebacker Jordyn Brooks and receiver Braxton Berrios.

  • Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle did some work only before practice.

  • Safety Jordan Poyer has a cast on a thumb.

  • Cornerback Cam Smith worked on the side.

Miami Dolphins practice updates: Day 13, Monday

  • Chris Brooks had a good inside run. He and Jeff Wilson are Miami's best short-yardage options. Do they both make the Miami roster?

  • Tua Tagovailoa hit Tyreek Hill for a red zone touchdown.

  • Tua could not connect with Braxton Berrios on a fade.

  • Tua did connect again with Tyreek in the red zone, this time back of the end zone.

  • Willie Snead had a nice red zone grab from Tua in the back corner of the end zone.

  • Veteran left tackle Terrron Armstead participated in some team drills.

Dolphins open practices?

Future practices open to the public likely include Aug. 13, 14 and 15.
