Mark Ingram is happy Alvin Kamara will be the one to break his record
Alvin Kamara is just 12 yards away from breaking Mark Ingram’s record as the New Orleans Saints all time rusher. With such a short distance to go, it is almost a foregone conclusion Kamara will break the record against the Atlanta Falcons.
Ingram sat with Saints media members to speak about the upcoming moment. It's not lost on him that his record wasn't going to last forever. Maybe he thought it would last more than three years, but he is happy for who's going to break it. “When you set a record, there’s going to be someone who comes behind you shooting for that. I’m just glad it is my fam, it is my brother.”
Kamara just signed a new contract and will be in New Orleans for a couple more seasons. Ingram foresees Kamara will "break this record and put it out of reach."
Ingram reflects on the moment it all began, trading Adrian Peterson. His thought was “they believe in us. It’s time for us to show what we’re capable of doing.” That 2017 season stands out to Ingram as “the starting point of Alvin making a name for himself.”
Kamara has come a long way from sitting third on the depth chart behind Ingram and Peterson to being the greatest running back in Saints history. Soon he'll be alone at the top with Ingram cheering him on.
