How many College World Series cycles are there? Vols' Christian Moore joins exclusive club
Christian Moore, take a bow.
The Tennessee baseball star infielder, who is a projected first-round pick in next month's MLB draft, has put up video game numbers in the Vols' College World Series opener vs. No. 8 Florida State — and it has led to some history.
With a 9-6 deficit and a potential trip to the "loser's bracket" of the CWS, Moore took a 3-1 pitch from FSU ace Jamie Arnold deep to straight away centerfield to cap off the second ever cycle hit at the College World Series.

The home run, which came 117 mph off the bat and went 440 feet, marked the 33rd home run of the season for Moore. As noted by the ESPN broadcast, Moore's home run is the third-longest home run, distance-wise, hit at the College World Series since the tournament moved to Charles Schwab Field Omaha in 2011.
Moore began the night off with a triple in the first inning, before adding a double down the left-field line — that scored Vols catcher Cal Stark on an FSU error — in the second and a single in the fourth inning.
Here's what you need to know of the history Moore made at the College World Series:
College World Series cycles
Christian Moore (Tennessee): Friday, June 14 vs. Florida State
Jerry Kindall (Minnesota): June 11, 1956 vs. Ole Miss
Moore joined the University of Minnesota's Jerry Kindall as the lone two players to have hit for the cycle in the history of the College World Series. Kindall, who went on to being a longtime manager at Arizona, reached the feat back in the 1956 CWS vs. Ole Miss, a 13-5 victory for the Golden Gophers en route to their first College World Series title.
Per Knoxville News Sentinel's Michael Wilson, Moore is the sixth Vol to have hit for the cycle in their time on Rocky Top and third in the Tony Vitello era. He is the first since Moore's former teammate Zane Denton accomplished the feat last season vs. Morehead State on March 10, 2023.
