BATON ROUGE — What better way to remedy a bad taste in your mouth, after getting beat, than by getting back out onto the field.
That's what No. 4 LSU baseball (17-4, 1-2 SEC) is looking forward to, Tigers coach Jay Johnson said Monday during his press conference, as his team returns to action at Alex Box Stadium against instate foe Louisiana Tech (16-5) Tuesday night (6:30 p.m., SEC Network+).
The Tigers dropped their SEC-opening series at Mississippi State over the weekend, a three-game set that saw their starting pitching staff get roughed up as well as a defensive performance that featured six total errors across all three games.
LSU scored 18 runs on offense, a number that Johnson believes his team can win a lot of series with. But due to pitching woes and defensive stumbles, it wasn't enough. Star third baseman Tommy White led the way for the Tigers, batting 5-for-13 with seven RBIs, against State.
Louisiana Tech is coming to Baton Rouge riding high off a sweep of Northwestern State. The Bulldogs boast a potent offense, scoring more than 8 runs per game and having scored double-digit runs in eight of their 21 games. Ethan Bates and Cole McConnell pace Tech's offense, hitting .391 and .384, respectively.
