Look: Hunter Ensley jukes Jackson Appel with slide to extend Tennessee baseball's lead in CWS Game 3
Baseball's baserunning certainly doesn't allow for the most creativity in sports, but Hunter Ensley pushed it to its limit in Game 3 of the College World Series against Texas A&M.
With Tennessee already up 5-1, the Vols' Kavares Tears drove a ball to centerfield that was barehanded off the wall by the Aggies' Jace LaViolette. LaViolette rifled ball to the cutoff man who turned and gunned the ball to Jackson Appel at home, seemingly leaving Ensley — who was trying to score from first — DOA at home plate.
Ensley, however, in a moment of brilliance saw Appel was favoring the backside of the plate. He then turned inside, a nonconventional way to get home, and dove around Appel as Appel tried to reach around his body. Ensley was called safe at home and, after a lengthy review, the call was confirmed.
SAFE!!
111 mph off the bat from KT and an incredible slide at home by Hunter to avoid the tag!!!

LIVE: Tennessee baseball vs Texas A&M live score updates in College World Series final Game 3: Vols lead
Ensley spiked his helmet as Appel futilely tagged him again in hopes he missed home plate, and the Vols' lead was extended to 6-1 in the seventh inning.
Ensley, a redshirt junior with the Vols, was hitting .293 with an OPS of .922 entering Monday's decisive Game 3. But no stat-line measures Baseball IQ. At least for a play, Ensley showed an 80-grade in that category.
