Look: Clemson baseball's Cam Cannarella hits game-tying three-run homer in ninth vs Florida

Cam Cannarella and No. 6 Clemson baseball weren't about to go down easy.

With the Tigers facing elimination in the ninth inning of Game 2 of their super regional against Florida, Cannarella, a sophomore center fielder, hit a three-run home run off Gators closer Brandon Neely to tie the game at 9-9 Sunday.

Austin Gordon pitched a scoreless ninth inning to send the game to extra innings. If Clemson wins, it would be the Tigers' 26th comeback victory of the season.

The Tigers entered the top of the ninth inning trailing 9-6 after Ashton Wilson pushed Florida's lead to three runs with a two-run homer in the eighth. Neely retired Alden Mathes before giving up singles to Jacob Hinderleider and Blake Wright. Cannarella then sent the first pitch he saw 362 feet to right field.

Clemson, which lost to Florida 10-7 in Saturday's Game 1, needs to win Sunday's game to force a winner-take-all Game 3 and advance to the College World Series for the first time since 2010.

The home run was the 11th of the season for Cannarella, and the 17th of his Clemson career. Cannarella was named last season's ACC Freshman of the Year, and Baseball America ranks him the No. 1 college prospect for the 2025 MLB Draft.
