The regular-season finale for high school football in the 337 is finally here. After week in and week out of primetime battles and rivalry matchups around Lafayette, teams are now on the brink of postseason play.

Before that, teams from Lafayette Parish and its surrounding area will have one final test to prepare them for the upcoming LHSAA playoffs. The most notable win from last week was an upset for St. Thomas More against Teurlings Catholic, in which the Cougars handed the Rebels their first loss of the year, beating them 48-34.

That leaves only one undefeated area team, Vermilion Catholic. The Screaming Eagles hold a 9-0 record. On the flip side, Comeaux and Abbeville have one more chance to get in the win column for the first time.

Other teams are trying to better their playoff seeding and secure district championships. With bad weather projected, some Friday games have been moved to Thursday.
