See which Lafayette-Area volleyball teams made the 2024 LHSAA State Tournament
The moment high school volleyball fans in the 337 have been waiting for is finally here, the 2024 LHSAA Volleyball State Tournament.
All the hours in the gym have led up to a chance at competing for a state title. On Nov. 4, the five-division brackets were released by LHSAA, and 22 Lafayette Parish and its surrounding area teams made the cut.
Southside, Lafayette, St. Thomas More, North Vermilion, Comeaux, Cecilia, Teurlings Catholic, Beau Chene, Iota, Eunice, Rayne, St. Martinville, Notre Dame, Porte Barre, Catholic-New Iberia, Lafayette Chrisitan Academy, Ascension Episcopal, Vermilion Catholic, Westminster Christian - Lafayette, St. Edmund and Westminster Christian-Opeoluasas made this year’s state tournament.
The highest-seeded area team is St. Thomas More, which earned a No. 1 seed in the Division II bracket after having a stellar regular season. The Cougars ended with a 33-3 overall record and won the Division II District 4 championship. The Cougars were the lone area team to get a No. 1 seed with LCA and Westminister Christian-Opelousas earning the next highest seed, No. 2 in the Division IV and Division V brackets.
Bi-District playoff matchups kick off on Nov. 6 for Divisions V, IV and III and on Nov. 7 for Divisions I and II. The tournament will run until Nov. 16 with all games being played at the Cajundome.
