Non-district play continues for high school football teams in Lafayette Parish and its surrounding areas as Week 3 of the season kicks off.

Last week, 21 area teams came away with a win while some teams got an impromptu bye week due to Hurricane Francine hitting in some parts of Louisiana. Now that the skies are clear, and football weather is back, teams are itching to get back on the field.

Some of the notable matchups happening around the 337 span across the classes. In class 5A, two powerhouses will battle it out in Acadiana and St. Thomas More on Sept. 20 while in class 4A rivals Breaux Bridge and St. Martinville will go head to head on Sept. 19.

Two more 4A matchups you won’t want to miss are Notre Dame at Teurlings Catholic and Lafayette Christian Academy at Westgate. No matter the class, Week 3 is sure to be filled with dogfights as they look to snag more non-district Ws before district play begins.
