How Kalen DeBoer feels Alabama football offense handled end of Georgia game

Holding onto a lead in the five minutes of Alabama football's win against Georgia on Saturday, a lead the Crimson Tide would lose, coach Kalen DeBoer explained why Jalen Milroe and the offense kept the pace instead of draining the clock.

"To me, it was about scoring. To me, it was about making sure we were running the right plays," DeBoer said on the "Hey Coach" show Wednesday. "I don't feel that we were pushing fast, but there were also times we wanted to get lined up to see what the defense was going to show us."

With less than five minutes left, DeBoer mentioned Georgia not only had the two-minute warning to work with, but also three time outs.

What makes Alabama defense 'swarm'

"I mean, you'te having to put probably five first downs, six first downs together, which means you got to score a touchdown for the most part," DeBoer said.

Alabama allowed a 67-yard touchdown from Georgia quarterback Carson Beck to Dillon Bell. The Crimson Tide responded with a 75-yard touchdown from Milroe to Ryan Williams. Cornerback Zabien Brown sealed the win with an interception.

Alabama takes on Vanderbilt at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
