JaMarcus Shephard turns Domani Jackson praise into Alabama football recruiting pitch

JaMarcus Shephard doesn't waste opportunities to give Alabama football recruiting pitches.

When asked about Alabama cornerback Domani Jackson's performance in the Crimson Tide's 41-34 win against Georgia on Saturday, Shephard beamed, saying the "chill" California native who "works his tail off" on the practice field underwent a transformation.

"It was just all of a sudden, this best came out of him on Saturday," Shepherd said. "I was just super excited for him and the way he was playing, the way he was competing, the way he was forcing the issue with the other football team across from us."

Along with an interception against Georgia, Jackson allowed one catch of 11 yards on five targets against the Bulldogs.

When talking about Jackson, Shephard used the opportunity to step on his soapbox and direct a message right to recruits considering Alabama.

"They're making us better, we're making us better," Shephard said. "And that's why, recruits, you come to the University of Alabama because you're going to compete against the best every day. How can you get better every day against somebody who you know is inferior to you? You're not going to give your best, you're not going to do your best, you're not going to be at your best, period, OK? And when you get to that National Football League, they're going to expect you to be at your best. So, recruits, come to Alabama to compete with the best."

Alabama takes on Vanderbilt 3:15 p.m. Saturday on SEC Network.
