Alabama football injury update: What's the latest on WR Kendrick Law, DB DeVonta Smith?

Two Alabama football starters left the Crimson Tide's 41-34 home win against Georgia with injuries.

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer gave updates on both wide receiver Kendrick Law and defensive back DeVonta Smith.

DeBoer said Wednesday on the SEC Coaches Teleconference that Law's status for Saturday's game is still being determined.

DeBoer said Law made a significant impact against Georgia "that may not be on the stat sheet" but was non-committal to the wide receiver's status against the Commodores.

"He's still day-to-day right now, trying to work through it," DeBoer said. "He's trying to do everything he can to get out there."

Shortly after the start of the second quarter, Law hobbled off the field after scrambling on a play where quarterback Jalen Milroe tossed the ball back to the wide receiver for a potential pass play. During his postgame press conference, DeBoer called Law's ailment a "lower-body injury."

"I don't know what he'll be," DeBoer said Saturday. "But it's unfortunate because I thought he really had a great week or two of practice and kept building too, a lot. He was really juiced up before the game."

Law finished with one catch for 19 yards against Georgia and worked as the Crimson Tide's primary perimeter run blocker.

DeBoer said Wednesday that Smith was battling cramps late against Georgia and is good to go Saturday against Vanderbilt.

"He's been practicing all week," DeBoer said.

Smith initially received attention from Alabama trainers in the third quarter and jogged off the field and into the medical tent under his own power.

Smith returned but was helped off the field again in the final two minutes.
