Kade Phillips commits to LSU football: 247 ranking, more to know of 4-star cornerback
DBU added another high-upside player to its ranks Sunday, this time in the form of a Texas flip.
Kade Phillips, a four-star cornerback, has committed to LSU, per On3's Hayes Fawcett before he confirmed the news himself. The Missouri City, Texas defensive back had been committed to Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns since July.
Phillips, a track star as well as a highly touted prospect, becomes the latest addition to the LSU 2025 recruiting class, which just added three-star tight end Mike Tyler Saturday.

National ranking: No. 187
Positional ranking: No. 21 cornerback
State ranking: No. 27 player from Texas
According to his 247Sports Composite recruiting profile, Phillips is a four-star cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class. Moreover, he ranks as the No. 187 recruit in the nation, the No. 21 tight end and the No. 27 player from the state of Texas
Per 247Sports, he did three visits: LSU, Texas, and Baylor. Phillips also had commits from many Power Four schools, including Michigan and Oregon. He committed to Texas in July but ultimately absconded for LSU, shouting out secondary coach Corey Raymond in his commitment post on X.

With Phillips' commitment on Saturday, LSU holds the No. 3 overall recruiting class in the country, per 247Sports' Composite rankings. The Tigers also have the second-best class in the SEC, trailing only Alabama at No. 2 overall. LSU also has a top-three cornerback in the class, D.J. Pickett.
LSU now has three five-star commitments, 15 four-star commitments and six three-star commitments. The recruits who make up the Tigers' 2025 class have an average rating of 92.66
