Junior Blake Burke ties Tennessee baseball program record with 40th homer
Blake Burke tied the Tennessee baseball program record Saturday with his 40th homer.
The junior first baseman homered in the fourth inning of UT's game against Georgia at Lindsey Nelson Stadium to tie Luc Lipcius for the Vols program record. He has hit 10 homers this season after hitting 30 in his first two seasons.
The Vols trailed Georgia 7-4 at the time of Burke's homer.

Burke hit 14 homers as a freshman and 16 as a sophomore to get him to 30 in two seasons and in range of the record.
Junior second baseman Christian Moore has 37 homers and is pushing toward the record as well. He has hit 10 homers this season after hitting 17 as a sophomore. He hit 10 as a freshman.
Both rank in the top-5 for homers in Tennessee history at the midway point of their junior seasons.
Who has the most home runs in Tennessee baseball history?
Lipcius entered the season holding the record for career homers at Tennessee. He hit 40 in six seasons, which included the pandemic-shortened 2020 season and an injury-shortened 2019 season.
Evan Russell had been second with 39 homers. Russell and Lipcius passed Todd Helton, who hit 38, in the same game against Notre Dame on June 11. Helton was third.
Doug Hecker hit 37, while Cody Hawn and Sonny Cortez hit 36 each.
