Jordon Gidron commits to South Carolina football: 247ranking, more of Gamecocks WR recruit

South Carolina football is adding the best player in the state to its recruiting class. And it will add him to the fold even sooner.

Four-star wide receiver Jordon Gidron III announced his commitment to the Gamecocks on social media on Friday. Gidron committed to South Carolina over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami and Tennessee, among others.

Gidron — who according to 247Sports was the No. 1-ranked player in the state of South Carolina for the 2026 class — is also reclassifying to the 2025 recruiting class.

According to 247 Sports Composite, Gidron is the No. 80 player in the 2026 recruiting class, the No. 12 wide receiver and the No. 1 player in the state. Gidron is listed at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds. Gidron won South Carolina state championships in the 100-meter, 200-meter races, and the 4x100 relay team.

According to his 247 Sports page, Gidron injured his knee and had to undergo surgery. He had 17 catches for 121 yards, four carries for 27 yards, and a touchdown this season before the injury. He also added a kickoff return. In 2023, he had 45 catches for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Per 247Sports' Composite rankings, Gidron is the No. 184 player in the class. He's also the No. 2- receiver and No. 2 overall player from the state of South Carolina, trailing Clemson defensive line commit Amare Adams.

  • Overall: No. 29 nationally

  • SEC: No. 13 in SEC

According to 247'Sports Composite Rankings, South Carolina's 2025 recruiting class ranks No. 29 nationally and 13th in the SEC following Gidron's reclassification. The Gamecocks previously ranked 32nd in the nation and 15th in the SEC.
