Jae Crowder welcomes Marquette's Oso Ighodaro to the NBA after he ends up with the Suns in second round of draft
Marquette alums and fans are beaming with pride during the second round of the 2024 NBA draft.
About 25 minutes after the New York Knicks selected Tyler Kolek with the 34th pick Thursday, MU teammate and friend Oso Ighodaro joined him in the NBA.
The Portland Trailblazers officially selected Ighodaro with the 40th selection, the 10th pick in the second round, though he will end up on the Phoenix Suns through a trade.
Jae Crowder, a former Marquette star and a reserve forward for the Milwaukee Bucks last season, congratulated Ighodaro via social media (he did the same for Kolek). The last time Marquette had two players selected in the same draft was in 2012 with Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom. Crowder played in Phoenix when the Suns went to the NBA Finals in 2021.
Here's Crowder's reaction and more on Ighodaro, who grew up in Chandler, Arizona, a city in the Phoenix metro area.
CONGRATULATIONS BIG O.! HARDWORK PAYS OFF!! WELCOME TO THE BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD.! ITS GO TIME NOW.! 🫡🙏🏾 https://t.co/bGqEtSGgKQ

For the first time since 2012, Marquette has multiple players selected in the NBA Draft. Oso Ighodaro is a mobile, versatile forward who was the glue to Shaka Smart’s motion offense. Ighodaro’s evolution to becoming a top-40 draft pick by the Suns is pretty remarkable.

Suns just hit a home run. Trading up for the 6’10” senior Oso Ighodaro. A very skilled passer, one of the smartest players in the draft with a 40” vertical.
And he’s from Chandler, Arizona. Good luck! pic.twitter.com/la0VV2gcN1— LEEZUS (@AndrewLeezus) June 27, 2024
Oso is a 6’10” versatile defender and high-IQ playmaker, ready to make an immediate impact for the Suns.

The last of the Wojo recruits. The man who stayed and returned a program to greatness.
