IndyCar points picture: Series championship points standings after Milwaukee Race 1
Will Power chipped away another 11 points off Alex Palou's championship lead during Race 1 of this weekend's doubleheader at The Milwaukee Mile, but it may prove to be too little, too late for the two-time IndyCar champion. Chip Ganassi Racing's defending series champ still sits 43 points clear of the Team Penske veteran after Power settled for a runner-up finish during Saturday's 250-lapper and wondered post-race how valuable the 10 extra points for winning might be come the Sept. 15 season-finale at Nashville Superspeedway.
Here's the full IndyCar points list after Saturday's race at The Milwaukee Mile:

IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year standings
Barring a meltdown in Sunday's Round 2 of IndyCar's doubleheader at The Milwaukee Mile, Chip Ganassi Racing's Linus Lundqvist is just hours away from clinching his year's Rookie of the Year honors after nabbing his third top-10 of the year in the No. 8 Honda -- and second in his last three races -- with his 6th-place performance Saturday.
The only driver within reach, CGR teammate Kyffin Simpson, finished a distant 25th, 12 laps down Saturday, and now trails Lundqvist by 88 points with a maximum of 107 points available over the final two races and a guaranteed 10 points for Lundqvist if he simply manages to start the final two races of the year.
Here's where things stand with two races to go:
Linus Lundqvist, Chip Ganassi Racing (245 points)
Kyffin Simpson, Chip Ganassi Racing (157)

IndyCar Series Leaders Circle standings
With his first IndyCar podium in more than eight years and the first for the team he joined just weeks ago, Conor Daly helped the No. 78 Chevy jump three spots in IndyCar's Leaders Circle standings with two races to go. The program awards just over $1 million the following season to teams' full-season entries that finish in the top 22 in points among those eligible.
Following last Sunday's race at Portland International Raceway, JHR's No. 78 sat just outside the cutline in a tie with Ed Carpenter Racing's No. 20 entry for 22nd-place, but Daly's former ride held the tiebreaker by virtue of a better 'best finish' in 2024. Daly's 3rd-place finish in Race 1 of this weekend's doubleheader at The Milwaukee Mile sent the No. 78 all the way up to 20th in the standings, trailing only Meyer Shank Racing's No. 66 among those still not yet safe from missing out on the major payday.
Despite falling behind the No. 78, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing's No. 30 of Pietro Fittipaldi held onto 21st, with the No. 41 of AJ Foyt Racing dropping two spots Saturday from 20th to 22nd. ECR's No. 20 is now outside the bubble, with rookie Christian Rasmussen having just been given the surprise chance to finish the season-ending oval stint after team-owner Ed Carpenter stepped out of the seat.
Here are the standings around the cutline:
19. Meyer Shank Racing No. 66: 179 points
20. Juncos Hollinger Racing No. 78: 176 points
21. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing No. 30: 168 points
22. AJ Foyt Racing No. 41: 163 points
----------------------------------------------------
23. Ed Carpenter Racing No. 20: 160 points
24. Dale Coyne Racing No. 51: 144 points
25. Dale Coyne Racing No. 18: 121 points
