Here's why Odell Beckham is No. 16 on our Dolphins' Top 20 players countdown

Odell Beckham has more than 1,000 receiving yards in five seasons and has been a Pro Bowler three times.

With the Dolphins, he says he's comfortable accepting a role as a 31-year-old number three receiver.

"I haven't been the number one in a minute," Beckham said.

Why Odell Beckham, Jr. is No. 16

Beckham still has confidence, swagger and the ability to break a tackle for a big gain.

There will be times Tyreek Hill and/or Jaylen Waddle are sidelined or double-teamed and Beckham, when healthy, is a capable veteran option for Tua Tagovailoa.

Beckham averaged a career-high 16.1 yards per catch with Baltimore last season.

Telling stat

27: That's how many first downs Beckham converted only 35 catches last season. It's entirely possible Beckham emerges as a valuable third-down safety blanket for Tua.

How we see Odell Beckham's future

Beckham accepted a club-friendly, 1-year, $3 million deal because he liked what he heard from player-friendly coach Mike McDaniel on a recruiting visit.

Beckham says he's at peace, which means we seem less likely to see emotional outbursts at this stage of his career.

Miami probably has the best 1-2-3 receiver trio in the NFL.

If Beckham remains patient and fits into an offensive philosophy he says reminds him of his days in New York, he'll likely get his share of targets.

"Let's have a great ending to this story," Beckham said of the Miami stop in his career.
