Game balls: 5 standouts from the Steelers' win over the Falcons
In typical Pittsburgh Steelers fashion, they pull off a no-thrills Week 1 victory over the Atlanta Falcons to start the season 1-0.
It wasn't pretty, but all that matters is that the Steelers put a W in the win column -- the only team in the AFC North. Here are the players who earned game balls for their performances in the season opener:
1. K Chris Boswell
Pittsburgh's win was the Chris Boswell Show. He went 6-for-6, responsible for all 18 of the Steelers' points.
2. LB T.J. Watt
T.J. Watt had a strip sack of Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins late in the first half. His timing was perfect, but the officials thought it was too perfect, and Watt's play was negated after being called offside. He made up for it with a walk-off sack -- the first of his career -- putting an end to Atlanta's chance to potentially win the game.
3. WR George Pickens
The Steelers offense never really found a rhythm, but in the times they had anything going at all, it was thanks to George Pickens, who finished the game with six receptions for 85 yards.
4. CB Joey Porter Jr.
Joey Porter Jr. blanketed Drake London on the one target that came his way. It was a reception, but Porter ensured no yards after the catch.
5. CB Donte Jackson
Donte Jackson had a ball go right through his hands early in the game but made up for it with a 49-yard interception in the fourth quarter. It stopped the Falcons in their tracks, who were finding success driving downfield.
