FSU women's basketball vs Alabama score updates for NCAA Tournament first round
Would this March Madness be different for the Florida State women's basketball team?
No. 9 seed FSU took on No. 8 Alabama in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament Friday evening in Austin, Texas. The Seminoles had made the NCAA Tournament all but two seasons since 2005, but they haven't won a tourney game since 2019. This was the Crimson Tide's second straight appearance and third in four years after a 20-year absence.
Coached by Brooke Wyckoff, FSU (23-10) had one of the top offenses in the country. The Seminoles were spearheaded by sophomore guard Ta'Niya Latson, whose 21.2 points per game ranked 13th in the nation, and junior forward Makayla Timpson, whose 17 double-doubles this season were a program record. Alabama (23-9) had a balanced attack led by senior guard Sarah Lee Barker and 3-point gunner Aaliyah Nye. The Tide are coached by Kristy Curry.

The winner of FSU-Alabama plays No. 1 Texas in the second round Sunday. The Longhorns defeated No. 16 Drexel earlier in the day 82-42.
