FSU football vs Memphis: How to watch game without DirecTV amid Disney, ESPN dispute

Florida State football fans looking to tune into Saturday's game against Memphis might need to have a backup plan.

Those who subscribe to DirecTV to watch games won't have access to FSU-Memphis. That's because the game is on ESPN, and that family of networks is being blacked out on DirecTV amid contract negotiations with ESPN's parent company, Disney.

The outage comes as a result of Disney and DirecTV battling over carrier fees. Blackouts started September 1, the day before FSU played Boston College on ABC, which also is part of the ESPN family of networks in many local markets.

And if that's not bad enough, DirecTV is also increasing prices for satellite and internet service starting October 6.

Why is ESPN no longer on DirecTV? When will it be back?

ESPN's parent company, Disney, is in a dispute with DirecTV over carrier fees. The contract between the two companies expired September 1, and they've been at an impasse since over how much Disney should pay and what channels DirecTV would carry.

Reports indicate there's no telling when ABC, ESPN, ACC Network and other channels will be back on DirecTV.
