Florida State football lands in the top-10 in preseason AP top 25

Florida State football knows where it stands in the two major college football preseason rankings.

And the views are similar.

The Seminoles - less than two week away from their overseas opener against Georgia Tech - were ranked No. 10 in the preseason AP Top 25 rankings released Monday.

They landed at No. 10 the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll announced last Monday, Aug. 5.

Georgia is ranked No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches rankings.

FSU is one of four ACC teams ranked and the highest in both polls in front of No. 14 Clemson (both), No. 19 Miami (both) and No. 22/24 North Carolina State.

FSU, which went 13-1 last season and finished No. 6 in both the coaches and AP (tied with Oregon) polls, was recently voted as the favorite to win the 2024 ACC Championship in the league's preseason poll.

The Seminoles won the conference last year and are looking to repeat as title winners since they won three consecutive crowns from 2012-14.

Florida State football set to open season vs Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland

The Seminoles are continuing preparations for Georgia Tech in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland, Saturday Aug. 24.

FSU is currently listed as a 13-point favorite and enters with a new quarterback in transfer DJ Uiagalelei.

The extended forecast for the noon kickoff calls for temperatures in the low-60s and a chance of rain.

The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, return an experienced quarterback in Haynes King.

King, a redshirt junior, enjoyed a breakout season in 2023. He threw for 2,842 yards and 27 touchdowns and rushed ffor 737 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Longview, Texas, native was one of only two Power Five players with at least 2,800 passing yards, 25 touchdown passes, 700 rushing yards and 10 touchdown runs in 2023, joining Heisman Trophy winner and No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Jayden Daniels of LSU.
