Florida State football lands in Top-10 of preseason US LBM Coaches Poll

Florida State football enters the 2024 season with high expectations.

The praise continued Monday, when the Seminoles landed at No. 10 In the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll.

FSU is one of four ACC teams ranked and the highest in front of No. 14 Clemson No. 19 Miami and No. 22 North Carolina State.

Georgia was ranked No. 1 by a landslide, the only team to receive double-digit first-place votes with 46.

The Bulldogs headline a record nine SEC schools listed. The conference had nine schools ranked previously in the 2015 regular season (Sept. 8, 2015).

Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and Alabama round out the top five.

No. 8 Michigan is the lowest defending national champion since Auburn in 2011. Before that, Clemson was the lowest in 1982.

This is also the first time since the start of the BCS in 1998 that one of the teams in the championship game (Washington) is unranked the following preseason.

Michigan beat Washington 34-13 in last year's national title game in Houston.

FSU, which went 13-1 last season and finished No. 6 in the coaches poll, was voted last week as the favorite to win the 2024 ACC Championship in the league's preseason poll.

The Seminoles won the conference last year and are looking to repeat as title winners since they won three consecutive crowns from 2012-14.

FSU opens its season against Georgia Tech Saturday, Aug. 24, in Dublin, Ireland at noon on ESPN.
