Falcons WR Rondale Moore placed on IR with knee injury

It looks like the Atlanta Falcons will have to get by without wide receiver Rondale Moore this season. The 24-year-old was carted off the field during Wednesday’s joint practice with the Miami Dolphins due to a knee injury.

The team officially placed Moore on the injured reserve list on Thursday afternoon, signing punter Ryan Sanborn in a corresponding transaction. Moore was acquired by the Falcons in an offseason trade with the Cardinals which sent former starting quarterback Desmond Ridder to Arizona.

Moore, a former second-round pick out of Purdue, has 135 catches for 1,201 receiving yards and three touchdowns since entering the league in 2021. The Falcons were counting on Moore to serve as one of their primary slot receivers but now they must look elsewhere.

Rookie Casey Washington could see an uptick in playing time with Moore going down. The team could also add a veteran free agent to help replace Moore's production.

Atlanta takes on Miami in Friday's preseason opener, which will give some of the team's other wideouts a chance to step up. The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium. Check out the Falcons' updated 90-man roster and depth chart ahead of Friday's preseason matchup.
