It was a tough day for the Atlanta Falcons as their final joint practice with the Miami Dolphins was spoiled by a potentially serious injury to wide receiver Rondale Moore. The team canceled the remainder of Wednesday's practice following the injury. It was a sad ending to an otherwise productive two-day practice session.

In today's Falcons recap, we go over the latest depth chart, head coach Raheem Morris reveals the team's preseason plans at quarterback and Calais Campbell says nice things about Atlanta.

Rondale Moore goes down

Moore was carted off after suffering a lower-body injury during Wednesday's practice and reportedly taken to the hospital. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Moore was spotted with an inflatable cast on his right leg. We still haven't received an official update from the coaching staff but it doesn't look good for the young wideout. If Moore is out for an extended period, rookie Casey Washington and veteran KhaDarel Hodge could see expanded roles this season.

The Falcons have yet to fully reveal their preseason plan at quarterback, but head coach Raheem Morris gave a strong indication that Kirk Cousins won't play and Michael Penix Jr. will see extended playing time against the Dolphins on Friday night. "We haven't really talked about playing time, but you'll get a good look at Michael," Morris told team reporters. "You won't see nearly as much of Kirk, if any."

Former Falcons defensive lineman Calais Campbell took his talents to South Beach over the offseason, but he still had plenty of good things to say about his former team. Atlanta's two quarterbacks especially caught Campbell's eye. “Kirk Cousins is a legend in this game,” said Campbell. “He’s had a lot of success and made some beautiful throws today. And then the Penix kid looks pretty good, too. He made a couple really, really nice throws and good reads and stuff.”

Bralen Trice returns, Ryan Neuzil out Wednesday

The Falcons practiced without outside linebacker Bralen Trice (illness) on Tuesday but the rookie returned on Wednesday, according to team reporter Terrin Waack. Reserve lineman Ryan Neuzil was absent Wednesday due to a calf issue. Aside from Rondale Moore's injury, the team has remained relatively healthy through the first two weeks of training camp.
