Dolphins chose Jordyn Brooks, Aaron Brewer over Seahawks' Jerome Baker, Connor Williams

This offseason, the Miami Dolphins decided to move on from middle linebacker Jerome Baker and center Connor Williams, and both players signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Miami replaced those players with free agents Jordyn Brooks, who previously played for Seattle, and center Aaron Brewer, who played for Tennessee.

The players are all similarly aged.

Miami paid the replacements more money and extended longer-term deals.

How are Jerome Baker and Connor Williams doing for the Seahawks?

It's only been two weeks, but Baker and Williams are grading out fairly well, according to Pro Football Focus.

They say Baker, who has been slowed by a hamstring injury, has a grade of 80.0. That's the fourth-best grade on the Seahawks defense and grades 12th among 68 inside linebackers.

PFF says Williams has a grade of 68.4. That's the sixth-best grade on the Seahawks offense and grades 12th among 32 centers.

How much did the Seahawks pay Jerome Baker and Connor Williams?

Both players were coming off of injuries, so Seattle found good value in the former Dolphins.

Baker, 27, agreed to a 1 year, $7 million deal. Williams, 27, agreed to a 1-year, $4 million deal.

That's an absolute steal for Williams, if he returns to form following an ACL tear.

The Dolphins successfully converted Williams from guard to center, didn't want to meet his pre-injury free agent asking price, and then jumped to add Brewer before Williams signed elsewhere.

Baker was a good third-round draft choice of Dolphins general manager Chris Grier, and the linebacker compiled lots of tackles. But Baker could at times get caught up in run-blocking traffic due to lack of bulk.

How are Jordyn Brooks and Aaron Brewer doing for the Dolphins?

So far, Brooks and Brewer are doing very, very well for the Dolphins.

According to Pro Football Focus, Brooks is Miami's highest-graded defensive player at 81.3.

Brooks, who is a fast, physical and mean (on the field), has a run defense grade of 81.3.

Here’s why Jordyn Brooks is No. 15 on our Dolphins’ Top 20 players

Brooks is 6-foot, 240 pounds. Baker is 6-foot-2, 232 pounds, generously listed by Seattle.

Brooks' bulk is a better fit for Anthony Weavers' defense. But it's not like he's slow.

Brewer, meanwhile, is graded 74.6 by PFF, which is Miami's fourth-best offensive grade.

Brewer is also PFF's fourth-graded center among 32 players.

This is especially impressive considering Brewer missed a lot of time in preseason with a broken snapping hand.

Dolphins' Aaron Brewer would love a robotic hand, but says surgically repaired one will do

Like Connor Williams, Brewer has athleticism that can really benefit Miami in the zone run game.

How much did the Dolphins pay Jordyn Brooks and Aaron Brewer?

Brooks, 26, agreed to a 3-year, $26.25 million deal, which is $8.75 million per season.

This is a very fair deal for Miami, as the average puts him 31st among linebacker, per Spotrac.

Aaron Brewer, 26, agreed to a 3-year, $21 million deal, which is at $7 million per season.

If Brewer continues to play well, this will be a fair deal for Miami, as the average puts him 10th among centers, per Spotrac.

Jordyn Brooks and Aaron Brewer vs. Jerome Baker and Connor Williams

Baker and Williams both entered this season off of knee injuries.

That is why the Seahawks paid less for them than Miami did for Brooke and Brewer.

All four of these players seem like good fits for their current scheme.

If Brooks continue to out-perform Baker in the area of run defense and Brewer continues to hold up in pass blocking as decently as he has so far, Miami has the better players.

Of course, the Dolphins are paying more for that upgrade.
