Dolphins' Aaron Brewer would love a robotic hand, but says surgically repaired one will do

MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins center Aaron Brewer says he's good to go on Sunday after surgery on a broken hand.

"That's the plan right now," Brewer said Thursday, three days before the home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Brewer feels his practice snaps this week have been solid.

Brewer says he'll wear his regular glove, nothing special.

"I wish I had a robotic hand," Brewer cracked. "Or a robotic glove or something I could wear. But it's just my regular hand."

The return of Brewer - his first name is pronounced AY-rin - would allow Miami to move Liam Eichenberg back to right guard, where he has improved a bit and been solid at times.

"With Liam, just with him, it's just, I can't say enough about him as a person, he's a team guy, his willingness, his growth, man, over our time here has been tremendous," Miami offensive coordinator Frank Smith said.

Brewer is an undersized but very athletic center who should make a positive impact on Miami's run game.

Left guard Robert Jones has improved since last season. But everyone knows there are some general concerns about the interior of Miami's offensive line.

"Block the guys in front of us, run them off the ball on the line of scrimmage, and play with confidence," Brewer said of the line goals.

Arik Armstead and Josh Allen are formidable member of the Jaguars' front and Travon Walker, a former first overall pick, has made some improvement after a disappointing start to his career.

Miami feels its quick-passing attack can neutralize a pass rush if under attack.

Brewer has missed a lot of practice time. But he feels he can flourish for Miami.

"I feel like I'm the perfect fit for this offense," Brewer said. "That's my skill set. It's a little different. I've been running outside zone with Tennessee, but this one is a little different. I'm having fun with it."
