Does Auburn football get a passing grade for Georgia loss? Our report card for the Tigers
(This story has been updated to correct the final score, Auburn's turnover total — the Tigers had none — and a reference to Georgia's Dan Jackson's block of a Towns McGough field-goal attempt.)
ATHENS, Ga. — Auburn football (2-4, 0-3 SEC) is no stranger to SEC losses, adding a third consecutive after its outing at No. 5 Georgia (4-1, 2-1) on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers, 31-13.
The Tigers settled for a 27-yard field goal in the first half and senior Jarquez Hunter added a 38-yard scoring run in the third quarter. A 26-yard field goal by Towns McGough ended their scoring in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers, who came into the game tied for 15th in the conference with Mississippi State, are off next Saturday. They'll resume play in Week 8 at Missouri (4-1, 1-1), which fell 41-10 at Texas A&M on Saturday.

'I expect more': Auburn football winless in SEC, desperately seeking redemption after bye
Key takeaways: Auburn football falls to Georgia, losing streak extended to 3 in a row
Offense: C+
Because of the strict no-turnover diet quarterback Payton Thorne is on, he limited risk. He had 16 completed passes on 27 attempts for 200 yards without a touchdown, his best completion rate (59%), but second-worst scoring rate of the season. Against Alabama A&M, where he threw one touchdown pass and four interceptions.
Defense: B
Auburn's defense allowed Georgia's Trevor Etienne to rush 13 times for 81 yards and two scores and Carson Beck to find Dominic Lovett for the third. Sophomore defensive lineman Keldric Faulk was able to sack Beck twice though, and Auburn managed to limit Georgia's big-play ability and keep themselves in the game.
Special teams: C-
Special teams had a tough outing, highlighted by Dan Jackson's block of Towns McGough's 54-yard field-goal attempt to end the second half. McGough made two other short attempts.
Coaching: B-
In Auburn's first road game, it finished without a turnover, a stark contrast to the 15 in five home games. There was just no "oomph," no bone for the Bulldogs to chase after and no worry to shake the leash.
Overall: C
Georgia is clearly the better team, though Auburn's coaching staff kept the 21.5-point underdogs in it. The Tigers just failed to come up with anything to seriously threaten the Bulldogs.
