Auburn football, Hugh Freeze keep Payton Thorne at starter after Oklahoma performance
ATHENS, Ga. — Auburn football is starting senior Payton Thorne at quarterback for the second week in a row after a solid performance against Oklahoma last weekend.
The Tigers lost 27-21 at home to the Sooners, a newly minted SEC opponent, to fall 0-2 in conference play and 2-3 overall, but Thorne recorded his best outing of the season so far.
He completed 21 of 32 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns, suffering one interception, one fumble and four sacks.
Saturday's kickoff between Auburn and No. 5 Georgia at Sanford Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (2:30 p.m. CT) on ABC.
