Diamondbacks acquire reliever Dylan Floro from Nationals in final deadline deal

Washington Nationals relief pitcher Dylan Floro (44) throws against the St. Louis Cardinals during the eighth inning at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 28, 2024.

The Diamondbacks made one last move ahead of the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon, landing right-handed reliever Dylan Floro from the Washington Nationals.

The Diamondbacks gave up slugger Andres Chaparro, a first baseman/third baseman whom they signed as a minor league free agent in November.

Floro, 33, has logged a 2.06 ERA in 51 games for the Nationals, though he has only 40 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings.

A 13th-round draft pick by Tampa Bay out of Cal State Fullerton in 2012, Floro has 32 saves and a career 3.24 ERA in 381 games (no starts).

Arizona is his eighth major league team in his nine seasons.

Floro averages just 90 mph with his four-seam and two-seam fastballs but manages to mostly keep hitters off the barrel.
