Destyn Hill, Jerrale Powers out with injuries for rest of FSU football spring season | The NoleBook
Florida State football has added two more players to its growing list of injuries this spring season.
Thursday, FSU head coach Mike Norvell announced sophomore wide receiver Destyn Hill and redshirt sophomore tight end Jerrale Powers are out for the remainder of the spring season due to injury.
"We'll obviously continue to evaluate where things go and the extent of their injuries heading into fall," Norvell said. "I just want to give an update on those two guys, personnel-wise, for the rest of the spring."
The wide receiver room and tight end room took large losses in the offseason, and a pair of injuries in both rooms could be crucial in depth.
Hill played in 10 games last season, making two starts and recorded 87 yards receiving on six receptions. With Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson now gone, Hill is one of the players that's expected to take on a larger role this season.
Powers played in one game last season against Southern Miss, which was his college debut. He did not record any stats.
The tight end room took a lot of losses in the offseason, with Jaheim Bell declaring for the NFL Draft, and Markeston Douglas and Preston Daniel transferring out. Kyle Morlock is expected to get one of those starting spots at tight end, but the other is up for grabs.
Hill and Powers are two of five players announced as injured in the spring season.
On March 26, Norvell announced redshirt junior defensive tackle Joshua Farmer, redshirt senior offensive tackle Robert Scott and freshman defensive back Jamari Howard will all be unavailable due to injury.
While Farmer and Scott are expected to return by summer workouts, Norvell said that Howard will miss the beginning of the fall season.
