Deion Sanders speaks on Colorado's embarrassing loss at Nebraska
In a 28-10 loss that brought back memories of last season's woes, head coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes were manhandled by the more physical Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday night.
Quarterback Shedeur Sanders took five sacks and was hurried frequently as Nebraska's talented defensive linemen burst through Colorado's offensive line with ease. Defensively, however, the Buffs did some good things, including holding Nebraska scoreless in the second half.
Colorado fell to 1-1 with another rivalry game set for next Saturday against the Colorado State Rams.
Here's some of what Coach Prime and Shedeur Sanders said following Colorado's rough showing at Memorial Stadium:
Positives
Deion Sanders: “The positive thing is the way we competed in the second half. We had no give up, no quit in us whatsoever." #CUBuffs

Thoughts on the offensive line
Coach Prime on the offensive line.
“First game I think they did a good job, this game they didn’t. We haven’t run the ball like we’ve wanted to consistently. We gotta figure out a way to have some type of running game.”— Jake Schwanitz (@JakeDNVR) September 8, 2024
Update on Shedeur Sanders
Deion Sanders say Shedeur Sanders "got dinged" a bit on a late-game targeting call and that's why Colorado took him out. No. 2 went back to the locker room late in the contest.

Frustrations
Deion Sanders on what the most frustrating aspect of tonight's game: “Knowing that we have a tremendous offense. We should be able to move the ball on anyone.” #CUBuffs

Sticking with offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur
Deion Sanders: "Pat (Shurmur) has done a wonderful job, I won't go there."
— Jake Shapiro (@Shapalicious) September 8, 2024
No run game
Coach Prime said the reason why the running backs only got four designed runs in the first half was because of the flow of the game and that he stands by Pat Shurmur.

Too many penalties

Shedeur praises Nebraska's defense
Shedeur Sanders on what Nebraska did to shut down the Buffs offense.
“They just came ready to play. They followed their game plan and it was successful.”— Jake Schwanitz (@JakeDNVR) September 8, 2024
"Rookie mistake"
Shedeur called his pick-six “a rookie mistake.”
“That can’t happen.”— Scott Procter (@ScottProcter_) September 8, 2024
Shedeur speaks on the struggling run game
I asked Shedeur about CU's running game: "Whenever you're able to run the ball consistently, then that opens up the pass but you gotta understand what your team is good at.
"Why would we keep running the ball if we get in a situation where it's a must get and we don't get it?"— Scott Procter (@ScottProcter_) September 8, 2024
