Eagles Jordan Mailata carted off after Darius Slay, Dallas Goedert also injured vs Browns
PHILADELPHIA − The Eagles' starting offense was reunited for all of three plays before tight end Dallas Goedert went to the locker room with a hamstring injury.
But it only got worse as cornerback Darius Slay left with a knee injury in the third quarter and left tackle Jordan Mailata with a leg injury in the fourth.
Mailata could barely put any weight on his leg as he was helped into the medical tent. He was then carted off into the locker room. Fred Johnson replaced him.
Mailata was ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Slay also limped to the locker room and was listed as questionable to return, before being ruled out later in the quarter. Isaiah Rodgers replaced him. Rodgers left in the fourth quarter with an injury and was replaced by Kelee Ringo.
Goedert came in as the Eagles' leading receiver with 24 catches for 301 yards.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts tried throwing to Goedert on 3rd-and-5 on the opening possession. But Browns safety Rodney McLeod broke up the play along the sideline, but appeared to collide with Goedert. He went into the medical tent as the Eagles punted, then went to the locker room.
Grant Calcaterra took over as the top tight end, and caught passes for 34 and 20 yards in the first half. The 54 yards eclipsed his career high of 40 for a game for the third-year tight end.
The Eagles began the game with their starting offense intact for the first time since the season opener on Sept. 6. Since then, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Lane Johnson have all missed time.
The Browns, meanwhile, lost two players to injury early in center Nick Harris, who was carted off with an ankle injury, and running back Jerome Ford.
