Coke Zero Sugar 400 weather update: What's forecast for NASCAR race today at Daytona?

Daytona Beach awoke to a sunrise Saturday morning ahead of tonight’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

Friday’s NASCAR events went off mostly without a hitch. Lightning ended Xfinity Series qualifying after one round, but Cup Series qualifying and the Wawa 250, won by Ryan Truex, were unaffected.

Now, we wait for tonight. The race is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Michael McDowell will begin on the pole after laying down the fastest lap average during qualifying (183.165 mph).

In the meantime, here is the forecast for the rest of the day.

National Weather Service forecast for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway

Today: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high temperature near 89. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

When is the Coke Zero Sugar 400?

The Coke Zero Sugar 400 will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Daytona International Speedway. NBC will broadcast the race with radio coverage from MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
