Coke Zero Sugar 400 rain update: What's the weather for NASCAR at Daytona this weekend?

There will be cars on the track in just a few hours at Daytona International Speedway. First up is NASCAR Xfinity Series and Cup Series qualifying this afternoon. Then comes the Wawa 250 race at 7:30 p.m. tonight before the Coke Zero Sugar 400 Saturday night.

At least, that’s the plan.

Will Mother Nature approve?

NASCAR encountered plenty of rain at Michigan last week. It delayed the FireKeepers Casino 400 more than two hours Sunday and got involved again after 51 laps, pushing the remaining 149 to Monday.

Daytona Beach is no stranger to precipitation at this time of year. Since 1999, eight of the 25 summer races at Daytona have been delayed, shortened or postponed due to bad weather.

Plus, it rained here yesterday afternoon.

Here is what the weekend forecast looks like as of Friday morning.
