CLEMSON — Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney confirmed after the game that defensive lineman Peter Woods exited with an injury in the second quarter of the 33-21 loss to Louisville on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Woods did not play during Louisville's first offensive drive in the second quarter and was not on the sideline in the first half. He returned to the sideline in the third quarter without his helmet. He recorded one tackle and one forced fumble on defense, and helped Clemson convert on fourth-and-1 while acting as a fullback in its jumbo package in the first quarter.

Swinney said he doesn't know the extent of Woods' injury, and added his absence contributed to two of the Tigers' field goals being blocked.

"Peter Woods got hurt, and it affected us there a little bit," Swinney said.

Woods battled a lower-body injury earlier this season when he was hurt after a chop block against Appalachian State in Week 2, which forced him to miss two games. Entering Saturday, Woods had 12 tackles, including one sack.
