Clemson football's Adam Randall to miss multiple weeks with toe injury, Dabo Swinney announces

CLEMSON — Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney announced wide receiver Adam Randall will miss multiple weeks after he broke his toe Monday.

Swinney said Randall has a "little stress fracture" in the toe and will get a screw inserted into it on Monday. The Tigers coach expects the wide receiver to return against Virginia on Oct. 19 or vs. Louisville on Nov. 2 after Clemson's open date.

Still, Randall was determined to play in Saturday's game, Swinney said, and the wideout delivered. He had five catches for 69 yards, including his first collegiate touchdown, in the Tigers' 59-35 win over NC State on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. He led the team in receptions and receiving yards.

"He's always been a great healer, so we'll see where he is," Swinney said. "I hate that for him, but awesome to see him play the way he did."

Randall, who started against Georgia in Week 1 but lost his position to wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. the following game, is a mainstay in Clemson's offense. Despite not starting in the past two games, he has contributed vastly in Clemson's offensive eruption over its past two games.

With Randall out, players like T.J. Moore, Troy Stellato and Cole Turner will have to step up alongside Antonio Williams and Wesco to keep Clemson's offensive production going.

Clemson football injury updates

Swinney said Wesco, who had one reception Saturday, suffered an upper-body injury in the team's win vs. NC State but will be fine. The Tigers coach said there's a "good chance" wide receiver Tyler Brown and defensive lineman Peter Woods returns against Stanford, too, after both missed Saturday's game.

Swinney also revealed offensive lineman Collin Sadler didn't play Saturday because of a calf strain, and freshman cornerback Corian Gipson is "day to day."

No. 19 Clemson (2-1, 1-0 ACC) faces Stanford (2-1, 1-0) next Saturday (7 p.m. ET, ESPN) at Memorial Stadium.
