Carson Beck was smiling late in Georgia football upset loss to Ole Miss. Why? We asked Beck

OXFORD, Miss. – Carson Beck took the podium in a corner of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium after No. 2 Georgia football's 28-10 upset loss to No. 12 Ole Miss.

He was there for all of about four minutes, and a question about a viral moment involving Beck didn’t get fired his way before the last-question warning came.

Beck may have known what was out there, because he seemed fine answering about the moment that came with 3:30 to go in the game and the Bulldogs down 12.

Beck smiled on the sideline as he spoke with backup quarterback Jaden Rashada.

Barstool Sports popped an image off the TV broadcast on X, formerly Twitter, to its 6.1 million followers: “Carson Beck is smiling!”

Beck was asked about it by the Athens Banner-Herald as he left and walked up a ramp after the media scrum.

Here’s what Beck said after being asked about the moment, and if it was a case of some players processing things differently: “Oh, no, no, no. Woah. My teammate next to me is just trying to cheer me up because we’re down points. He’s like, ‘We’re still in this game.’ I’m like, ‘You’re right.’ I smiled back at him. I acknowledge that. So yeah, make sure that people understand.”

Georgia fell to 7-2, 5-2 in the SEC.

Beck, a senior, was 20 of 31 for 186 yards with an interception and lost fumble.
